Mothers’ Choice 3
Starting from December 2025, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Friday, until Mother's Day on May 10, 2026, in Huashu Village, Nanjing where I live and work, the "Mother's Choice" third collection writing workshop held a total of 20 sessions. This book brings together the achievements of the workshop over the past five months. During this period, mothers living nearby who were working part-time and doing part-time jobs during holidays (because they usually took care of their children and only do part-time job during holidays) such as Zhang Youmei, Jing Lili, Xue Fengling from the village, and Zhu Jingming who suffered from depression almost participated in the entire process without missing a single session. There were also many friends who did not participate in the entire process: the owner of the pancake stand at the village entrance, the cook in the university cafeteria, the university professor, the rural teacher, the student majoring in drama, the ice cream shop employee, the art youth, the art teacher, the psychologist, the freelance editor, and the doctoral student in stage performance. Some wrote some short texts, while others just came to have a look. There was also a woman who was illiterate but left some pictures.
The theme of the exhibition is "The Body Factory", which is the 9th session of the workshop. It was selected through an open vote from the 33 keywords proposed by each participant. It was proposed by Geng Xue, the new art education teacher who moved to the village. The entire book is divided into eleven chapters based on the names of human body parts. It describes the common experiences of people's bodies - birth, illness, aging, and death, based on the real experiences of the participants. The book depicts various bodies, including those that have "broken down" due to overwork, overly indulged, want to "break down" but haven't done anything, numb bodies, working bodies, and bodies that constantly take care of others' bodies.
In contemporary times, we increasingly hear about the high incidence of mental illnesses among young people, as if they were trying to erase their bodies from the world. Every person's body originates from that of a mother, but "motherhood" is not merely an identity or role brought about by reproduction. Unlike the power derived from money, power, fame, or connections, "motherhood" is also a unique life energy formed in the social structure through a series of small actions and choices, accumulated over time. From each person's body, we may be able to capture the form of this energy. Therefore, we write about the body in order to recover our complete selves.

Mothers’ Choice 2
This writing project Mothers’ Choice 2 organized in a village of Nanjing, located at the edge of a big city, which can easily access to a diverse range and classes of women, from migrant workers who live nearby, to middle-class people who live near university towns, to young women who rent their homes, and to village residents who often make a living from farming and cleaning work.
The initiator invited participants with different backgrounds joining us to read, write, talk and labour, and has been trying to re-read and see ourselves together. It hopes to establish the connection between mothers through long-term joint reading and writing, and to recall their daily experiences together, identify and show their energy through words. As for whether they can stimulate the imagination of more people, only rely on each of you, from our expression, to experience and think. This book is a phased compilation of the writing project "Mother's Choice”, which consists of two parts: writing and exhibition. You can see women from different walks of life narrating and writing about their daily lives.

Documentary "Dialogue Between Father and Daughter"

The main characters of this film is me and my father. It's a private video recording of a conversation between us. Due to my father remained silent throughout my period of marital turmoil, this has been a source of my inner conflict for several years. I really want to know his feelings and thoughts, so I initiated this conversation.
The conversation took place in the early winter of 2019. After my mother passed away, the tense relationship between my father and me, which had lacked any buffer zone for years, no longer had any leeway. I hoped to expand the dialogue space between us, thereby dragging out the gender and identity dilemmas of us in the patriarchal environment.
My father was not a traditional strong father. Under my mother's dominance, he gradually became more silent and reserved, showing signs of distress. His hobbies of poetry, calligraphy, and painting, which he had enjoyed in his youth, were long abandoned. In conversations, he repeatedly regarded himself as a failure. The repression and pain felt by each member of the family could not be resolved within the family itself. It seemed that once it was uncovered, everyone was a victim. I had to record this, presenting it as a puzzle to a distant and impartial person who might be responsible.
